Trashlab Repair Cafe at Espoo Kunsthalle 27.7.

Each month during 2013 we organise and promote a Trashlab Repair Cafe event at a different location. In July, Espoo Kunsthalle hosts the repair cafe event on Saturday 27 July 2013 klo 14.00 - 18.00. Soft drinks and snacks available.

Espoo Kunsthalle is an artist-led initiative to bring experimental visual, sound, & performance art to public space in and around the city of Espoo, Finland. We believe art can be used as a vehicle for social change and empowerment of marginalised communities. Projects present progressive contemporary artists to a wider public through interventions in public space and encouraging audience participation and engagement.

Merja Puustinen will be on hand to demonstrate imaginative patching and repair of clothes and woolly socks, and to give advice and assistance. There will be a sewing machine, cloth, wool, thread etc available. If you want special colours bring your own!! Andy Best will have various tools available for fixing bikes, machines, whatever you bring along. If you have special requirements let us know in advance please!

Trashlab repair cafe events are social occasions to gather and try to fix the things you have that are broken, and meet others who care about tinkering, fixing, hacking, and the problem of waste and obsolescence in society. Each time we try to identify someone(s) in advance who have some experience/skills, although everyone is encourage to help each other.
