Exhibition dates: 2-12.4 Opening: 1.4 Location: Myymälä2 gallery The Artkillart exhibition features installations by Valentina Vuksic (CH) and Yann Leguay (FR). It is a collaboration between the label of experimental audiovisual and sound art Artlkillart and Pixelache. Cut / instrumental 4 by Yann Leguay Cut / instrumental 4 is the installation version of the performance 'Cutter_Off'. A blank vinyl record is placed on a turntable. The needle is replaced by a cutter blade, connected to a contact microphone, which erodes the surface while gradually creating sound. The installation pushes the medium to its limits, to the point where its erosion, rather than a loss of data, is the source of new sound matter. Yann leguay is a visual artist & composer. He is a member of the Radio Free Robots. Harddisko by Valentina Vuksic 'Harddisko' is an installation piece dealing with raw computer sounds. Rhythmic noises are evolving from sixteen defective hard drives, which are orchestrated through simple power circuits. Each hard drive’s casing is being removed and a special sound pickup is mounted on the drive's read head and connected to a sound mixer. By cutting the hard disk’s power in varying sequences and amplifying the peculiar sound characteristics of each drive, an unpredictable acoustic and visual interplay is taking place. About Artkillart... Artkillart is a label based in Paris and Berlin, created in 2007 by Kévin Bartoli, Thomas Pigache and Clément Lyonnet. Its purpose is to promote experimental audiovisual and sound art. In reaction to dematerialized music, the artists of the label refocus on material objects. They are invited to conceptualize and design an object exploring the quality, the complexity and the limits of different media (including the dvd, cd and vinyl), and conceived as an experience both for the artist and the audience. In addition to the the two above mentioned installations, Artkillart will present a full lineup of live audiovisual performances at Kiasma Theatre during the festival .
