23.8. Molly Scott Cato presents Green Economics
Molly Scott Cato presents and debates on the topic of Green Economics with a local audience of researchers and activists on Tuesday 23rd August from 1730-1930.
“The world as we know it needs a new economics. Climate change, financial crisis and out-of-control globalisation – all the major problems facing the world have their root in the dominant economic system. The globalised marketplace is the prevailing force in our lives, undermining the real important of our human communities and our planet.”. This is the context and motivation in which Cato presents her vision of Green Economics. She argues that “society should be embedded within the ecosystem, and that markets and economies are social structures that should respond to social and environmental priorities”.
While visiting Finland as a key note speaker at the ICA2011 Conference in Mikkeli, Molly Scott Cato will present and debate her economic position. Demos Helsinki will host and introduce the local context and debate. Language of the discussion event is English. Welcome to attend, listen, and contribute with your thoughts!
